Manchester Music

A long history of music perhaps has its most famous beginnings in 1858 when the Halle Orquestra was founded, since that time Manchester has resounded to the sound of music of many different styles.

When Bob Dylan took to the stage at the Free Trade Hall in 1966 who then present would have thought they were about to witness a piece of history in the making as he became ‘Judas’ to outraged fans.

10 years later the Free Trade Hall saw, or rather heard, another life changing performance when the Sex Pistols came to town!

Visit some of the venues and hear some of the stories from the city which has seen so many great musicians over the years, artists as diverse as Ella Fitzgerald, Tom Jones, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, to home grown Freddy and the Dreamers the Hollies the Smiths the Happy Mondays, New Order Take That and many others.
